CALO is not:


  • Behavior modification.
  • A generalist residential treatment center.

CALO provides:


  • Transferable attachment through the care, nurturing, and potential adoption of purebred canines.
  • A secure base created through relationships with staff, peers, guardians, and purebred canines.
  • Direct coaching of relationship skills to the primary care relationship (parents/guardians).
  • Experiential successes through aquatic challenges and activities on the Lake of the Ozarks.

 

CALO targets:


  • Issues of emotion, attachment, and trauma.
  • Consistency and rhythms versus a regimented, inflexible, group-based level system.
  • Effectiveness over efficiency.
  • Lifelong attachment and healing between families and their children.
  • Low staff to student ratio (never more than 1 to 4).
  • The correction of negative core beliefs.
